So as I sit listening to SYL, working away the last few hours of this trip in Lake Forest, I am mentally preparing for another instalment of the awesome Wacken Open Air. So my plan for the next few weeks is as follows:
Fly back to England. Unpack. Pack for Wacken. Put all of my CDs in a spindle. Sleep. Get car serviced. Meet sister. Wait for masses of people to invade our flat. Sleep. Drive to Germany. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Drive to England. Have a bath. Sleep. Fly to California. Work/Sleep combination for some days. Fly to England. Sleep. Drive to Derby for Bloodstock. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Sleep. Get drunk and listen to metal. Drive home.
Sounds excellent to me! Unfortunately, in that list, the only decent amount of time I’ll get to see Gemma will be when I come back for Bloodstock, which isn’t until 16th! Which sucks. Things like this make wedding planning very difficult, especially when she is working so much too!
So after a couple of light drinks last night, ended up in bed about midnight, and was awake at about 9am this morning. We’ll be heading into work soon I expect, so I should probably have a shower before that happens. There’s some strange people outside walking their dog and making wierd noises… perhaps an American mating call? I don’t know…
So I have a few days left in California, after that I’ll be back in UK preparing to go to Germany already! No rest for the wicked, eh? I also ordered Gemma and I’s Bloodstock Open Air tickets for her birthday, so anyone else who’s going, give us a shout! We’ll be taking Tom and Sophie in my car, so unfortunately there’s no lifts going, but would be ace to meet up anyway..
Ah Wacken… just 11 days to go. Oh and they’ve started the webcam now! Looks nice weather, apparently there is a heat wave in Germany right now that looks set to last beyond Wacken. Excellent!
So, in exactly 2 weeks today I will be at the almighty Wacken Open Air festival, about this time in fact, I expect the bands will have already started. I’m very excited.
Should be immense, to say the least. Many great bands I look forward to, but a little upset that Gemma can’t come, but I understand why.
Shortly after Wacken is also Bloodstock, for which I need to get tickets! I shall do that tonight after work.
Anyway, unfortunately this trip to USA is an extremely busy one, so I shall have to get on with finishing off this exciting project!
