Just a little venting of fustration here, but parking in Portsmouth is so bad. Most of the roads are permit holder only (2 hours free parking normally). My girlfriend has had 3 parking tickets recently, she comes to stay at mine quite a lot. One could go to the parking office near the city centre and get these 24-hour permits, but there’s the fustration of getting there. I work office hours, and the parking office is open office hours, which makes it difficult to actually get down there. I can’t even get down there to get my resident permit (even though I don’t really need it as I am lucky enough to have allocated parking). Now I understand that the city council is trying to aim the parking towards residents – but what about visitors? One of my band mates had several parking tickets over my time of living in Portsmouth, and it’s just fustrating.
